Hasan Doyu - Automation Manager, Supply Chain

What do you do at Oriola?

I’m an Automation Manager at Oriola Enköping. Together with my team of six technicians, I’m responsible for the operation and maintenance of the automation systems.

Enköping is our Swedish distribution centre for pharmaceuticals, healthcare and wellness products.

Describe your role – what does it involve?

As an Automation Manager, I juggle many tasks at once, but my main focus is ensuring a well-functioning and highly reliable machine park.

Managing automation requires careful planning and continuous monitoring, but it’s also about having the right resources, spare parts, and expertise in place to handle any operational disruptions. What I enjoy most about my work is that we’re constantly evolving and learning—since we never know when or what the next challenge will be.

A typical workday is hard to define, as my tasks are largely shaped by the needs of our machines and my team. But overall, my role is to ensure that my team has the best possible conditions to do their job effectively as automation technicians.

The best part of my job is working closely with my team to solve new challenges every day. Our work requires creative thinking and a flexible approach, and the trust we receive from our managers allows us to continuously develop and improve

In the medium term, I analyse our performance—what we’ve learned and where we need to strengthen our capabilities to handle future challenges more efficiently. This way of working continuously raises the baseline for our team.

What’s your background – education and career?

After completing my studies in mechanical engineering in 2014, I started working in the pharmaceutical industry, where my curiosity for problem-solving, production technology, and maintenance strategies grew stronger. This led me to a role at Knapp as a site engineer in 2018, working on the new automation system at Oriola Enköping.

When the project ended, I had enjoyed working at Oriola so much that I decided to stay. I became a maintenance coordinator in 2021 and have been in my current role as Automation Manager for the past two years

And finally, when you’re not working, what do you like to do?

I love to travel—whenever I get the chance to explore new places, I make sure not to miss it. And since hiking is my other passion, Norway is one of my favourite destinations.
